Sacred Service Opportunities
Throughout the year there are many opportunities to serve here at New Dawn Center for Spiritual Living, as well as the community at large.
Purpose & Mission
It takes a village... we believe in unity. It is our intention to not only serve our own spiritual community, but to be a light in our local community, as well as a light in the global community.
New Dawn Center for Spiritual Living is blessed with an abundance of opportunities to serve, grow and be a part of a community with like-minded individuals. Below is a list and description of each with current activities. If you are interested in volunteering for any of these groups or any other service opportunities at New Dawn, please contact the office at 303-369-8222, or email us at email@example.com.
Youth and Family Ministry
Many of us did not have the benefit of the Science of Mind teachings as we were growing up. What a wonderful gift to give to our youth! There are abundant opportunities to serve in the youth ministry, bringing SOM teachings to all ages. If you are interested in serving in this area, see the Youth Director, Cheryl Hiraoka, RScP. A background check is conducted on all individuals serving in this area.
An essential part of our teachings is the importance to give back to the community. Our care ministry allows a coordinated approach to New Dawn Center for Spiritual Living being of service to the community of Aurora and beyond. Although we take on special one-time projects, there are some of the projects that we do as a central part to our ongoing "giving back." These include the following:
- Providing backpacks to needy students of Crawford Elementary and women of the Gateway Battered Women’s Shelter
- Giving Tree providing Christmas presents for Gateway Battered Women’s Shelter
- Providing and serving food to the veterans at Thanksgiving
- Bread Upon the Water (see below)
- And many others...
For more information on our Care Ministry and the programs listed above, contact the Center Office.
Bread Upon the Waters
Bread Upon the Waters, part of our Care Ministry, is our first IN Reach Ministry. We are ready to provide services to New Dawn Center for Spiritual Living members and attendees experiencing crisis or incapacitation due to illness, accident, surgery, rehab or hospital stay, death of family member, etc.
All members of our New Dawn community are invited to fill out a Volunteer Information form to let us know how you would like to be of service to other community members in time of crisis. You can email them to the church office or fill one out at a Sunday Service.
Requests for Assistance should be directed to the church office at 303-369-8222. The main emphasis of this ministry is preparation and delivery of meals. On occasion, we will also assist with rides to doctor appointments, making/sending cards, assisted care facility/rehab visits, and other incidental support that may be requested. When pastoral care/spiritual guidance is requested, these are fulfilled by our ministers and licensed practitioners.
If you would like more information, contact the church office at 303-369-8222 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The purpose of the New Dawn Men’s Ministry is to offer an opportunity for like-minded men to come together for the purposes of spiritual growth, service to the church community and the community at large, and to have fun! The men come together monthly on the second Saturday morning of every month. For more information on current activities of the men’s group as well as the time and location of the next meeting, contact Jaime Samudio at email@example.com.
Fiber Arts Ministry
The Fiber Arts Ministry is comprised of women knitting or crocheting for PEACE. We are knitting to make a difference in the lives of women and people in need. As a result of this ministry, the women of New Dawn are finding that their lives are being transformed by the fellowship and the service to others. One group meets on Tuesday mornings, and another group meets Monday evenings. For more information, contact the church office.
Sacred Service Ministry
At New Dawn Center for Spiritual Living, we believe that as with all aspects of your life, "what you give is what you get." Our spiritual community is a beautiful out- picturing of the love that exists within each of our congregants. We believe that everyone has special gifts and talents, and New Dawn offers many opportunities to express your God-given penchant.
We have a plethora of delightful and joyous ways to give of yourself to New Dawn Center for Spiritual Living – from assisting with the Sunday service goodies, to playing with the children, to our Care ministry, etc. The opportunities are abundant. If you'd like to find out more, please see any of our team leaders or contact the Center Office.
New Dawn's women's group seeks to bring women together for spiritual deepening and opportunities for service. Once a month, the women meet over a pot-luck lunch, sharing and connecting, and making plans to assist our community. For more information, contact Sharon Jones via the Center Office.
Pathways to Inspired Living
This is a two-part complementary class that introduces you to the practical philosophy of the Science of Mind and Spirit and the services and programs of New Dawn Center for Spiritual Living.
First Sunday of the Month from 11:30-1:00pm:
What happened to the dreams that you imagined when you were young? If you are not living them would you like to re-ignite the passion of those dreams or dream even greater ones? You can live the life that you always imagined.
Ernest Holmes said, "There is a power for Good in the Universe greater than you are, and you can use it."
This session will introduce you to how to use that Power that is within just waiting for your direction. You can create and live your inspired dreams today.
Third Sunday of the Month from 11:30-1:00pm:
New Dawn offers many spiritual resources and opportunities for everyone to experience our commitment to "Renewing Minds, Igniting Souls, and Inspiring Dreams."
If this is something that interests you, learn more about who we are, what we teach and how we may assist you on your spiritual journey.
Sign up for either session or both on Sundays or by calling the Center Office.
